WiLBR | Intelligent Pig

Steady Flux’s new intelligent pig, WiLBR, is the most technologically advanced ultrasound inspection pig available on the market for process heaters. With more than 6,000 readings per linear foot and the ability to detect flaws as low as 0.185”, inspections using Steady Flux provide the highest probability of flaw detection in the industry.

Instead of modifying a pipeline pig for small diameter refinery inspection needs, WiLBR was specifically designed from inception to detect and quantify fired heater damage mechanisms in process heaters. It accurately and rapidly detects internal and external corrosion, pitting, erosion, manufacturing deformations, as well as bulging, ovality, and swelling. Our proprietary internal mapping system accurately determines each area of concern within ±1% of the tube or pipe length, so field verification and localized repair can be quickly identified.

Reporting is delivered to our customers within 24 hours after inspection. Steady Flux also provides fitness for service calculations per API 530 and API 579 standards and utilizes our proprietary software for “what if” scenarios provided by the customer. Our engineers and technicians work closely with our clients to ensure a definitive answer for safe operation of the inspected fired heater to the next scheduled turnaround. By having the best data available provided by the WiLBR intelligent pig, operators can more precisely determine corrosion rates, provide more fidelity to calculated run times, and ultimately provide more reliability and better efficiency of their fired heaters.

WiLBR is now being utilized by our engineers and technicians worldwide inside oil refineries, chemical plants, steel mills, and fertilizer plants.
